Rangers can sign Saint-Etienne ace Denis Bouanga for £4.2m

Ligue 2 side Saint-Etienne reportedly want a fee in the region of £4.2million if they’re going to part ways with Rangers target Denis Bouanga.

According to French media outlet Le 10 Sport, MLS side LA Galaxy appear to be closing in on his services but have failed to match the valuation.

Gers have already made an approach and have been told that the French club are resigned to lose out on the 27-year-old Gabon international.

Move on

There’s no chance that Rangers will be spending that much on another winger this summer and we can write this one off for now.

There are a number of teams vying for his services and the chances of the French club reducing their price are little to none.

At 27, he is in his peak and will decline after a few years so he hardly comes with any resale value.

As Gers are looking to become self sufficient, these aren’t the kinds of signings that they make so we do not expect any progress on this.

They may have approached Saint-Etienne to ask about the price and on learning it, probably would have cooled their interest in the player.

It remains to be seen if they sign another midfielder and centre-back as the game against USG proved that the squad has plenty of weaknesses that need to be addressed soon and hopefully more incomings follow in the coming days.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
