Rangers to hold press conference for new signing on Thursday

Rangers will reportedly hold a press conference for new signing Ridvan Yilmaz after he made his debut for the club on Tuesday night.

Away at USG in the Champions League qualifiers, Gers failed to come up with the answers and ended up losing the contest 2-0.

Yilmaz did not start the game but came on as a second-half substitute when he replaced Borna Barisic.

Via Twitter, beIN Sport journalist Gurler Akgun wrote, “As we mentioned. Rıdvan Yılmaz made his debut on August 2nd.
Tomorrow at 16:30 Rangers will hold a Press Conference for New Transfer Rıdvan Yılmaz.”

Time to be a regular?

Even though Gers were trailing, Giovanni van Bronckhorst chose to bring on the Turkish defender.

Despite having only few training sessions with the squad, the Dutchman felt that Yilmaz was ready to feature in such a high stakes game.

It wasn’t enough to make an assessment thoroughly of the 21-year-old but he certainly did look sharp and we will not be surprised to see him starting regularly now.

GvB will certainly be asked about how often he plans to play Yilmaz at the press conference and we’re interested to see what he says.

It could also mean phasing out Barisic and possibly signing another left-back next summer as the Croatian has also been linked with the exit door.

Lack of playing time could see him forcing a move in the coming windows and that could see Gers spring into action and sign another left-back.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
