Chris Jack: Kemar Roofe could now leave Ibrox, Rangers would seal replacement quickly

Rangers could start listening to offers for Kemar Roofe now with his injury record a real concern, according to Chris Jack this week.

Writing in his latest snippet for the Glasgow Times [July 29, pg. 43], Jack shared that a replacement would be drafted in very quickly should that happen.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is said to have addressed his concern over the depth he had in the final third last season once the likes of Roofe, as well as Alfredo Morelos, picked up injuries.

Writing in his latest column for the Glasgow Times, Jack shared the latest news in the final third that could see new arrivals at Ibrox soon.

“That was something Kemar Roofe could only do fleetingly last season and his list of injuries means he cannot be relied upon over the course of a campaign,” he wrote.

“With that in mind, he is another who rangers would surely be willing to listen to offers for.

“That could see Van Bronckhorst dip into the market once again and he has already spoken about the need to avoid being left short of bodies in the manner that he was towards the end of last term.

“If Roofe goes, expect a replacement to follow sooner rather than later.”

Stick or Twist.

This is a strange one, and a very big call needs to be made.

Every time Roofe has featured, whether in the Scottish Premiership or in Europe, he has mainly always delivered by finding the back of the net, but has the consistency in terms of longevity been there?

Van Bronckhorst will want players who can play 90 minutes every week, not once a month, and that is what it feels as though the Jamaican international has been giving him.

Morelos is different, he played every week flat out for most of the season and then picked up that one big injury, something he is on the verge of recovery from.

Signing Antonio Colak was critical and he will start as our main man from today, no doubt, but another new face will be needed if Roofe is moved on, even just on loan.

Ross Wilson will be prepared for every eventuality though, of that, we have no concerns, and it will be interesting to see if he needs to use it in the next month.
