Keith Jackson makes Rangers and Celtic SPFL predictions

Rangers will start the brand new 2022-23 season underway on Saturday (30 July) when they face Livingston in the Scottish Premiership clash away from Ibrox.

Keith Jackson, a columnist for The Daily Record, has shared his “big predictions” ahead of the new season.

Jackson predicts (29 July) Rangers to win the Premier League title, while Celtic to come second. He expects the Bears to win one domestic cup as well.

Cracking contest

It’s going to be a cracking contest between the two Scottish giants in the upcoming season.

Celtic are the Scottish Premiership champions, but the Bears will try their best to bring the title to Ibrox again.

Under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, they made great progress last season, where they finished as runners-up in the Europa League, and won the Scottish Cup as well.

But they suffered huge disappointment in the league, and that is something the Dutchman will have to work on this season.

Celtic showed great consistency in the second half of the season, where they kept on winning games at a stretch.

Both the sides are evenly balanced, but the Bears probably have added more quality to their ranks.

This has been a massive summer for them where they lost two key players in Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo. But they have made some brilliant signings, and Van Bronckhorst will hope that they can truly bridge the gap with their rivals.
