Giovanni van Bronckhorst dragged Ross Wilson into offices for key Rangers meeting

Giovanni van Bronckhorst dragged Ross Wilson into a meeting this summer to kickstart Rangers transfer business, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [28 July, pg. 56] that the slow start to the window had started to worry many fans surrounding Ibrox.

Since then, seven new faces have arrived with Ridvan Yilmaz the latest of those as Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo the two faces to move on to Ajax and Southampton.

Writing in their latest Rangers snippet, the Daily Record shared the moment that everything changed in the summer window for the Bears in recent months.

“The lack of early movement in the transfer market had the angsty Ibrox support flapping harder than come of those Love Island lads discovering their girls were being eyed up by the latest muscle-bound newcomer into the villa,” they wrote.

“Reassurance eventually came however when van Bronckhorst dragged sporting director Ross Wilson in for a chat and together they have embarked on a swift round of speed dating that has resulted in Rangers coupling up with seven new recruits.”

The relationship between Gio and Wilson has come up trumps this summer, and it has been perfect.

Rangers now boast a squad depth that is far stronger than last season and is mostly down to the superb business on show – raking in over £30million for Bassey and Aribo

Adding the Nathan Patterson money from last year, that takes the money coming in near £50million, and the seven new faces show that.

Two new defenders coming in after Bassey left instantly improves depth, and then Tom Lawrence, as well as Malik Tillman, covers Aribo leaving for Southampton.

Van Bronckhorst will be delighted with the business concluded so far and in such a quick time, with this meeting no doubt the catalyst behind it all happening.

With the new season only days away now with that clash against Livingston, it will be the first time we hopefully see all these new faces together, except Yilmaz as he waits for his clearance.

What a window it has been so far.

In other Rangers news, Ross Wilson now has names lined up just in case Alfredo Morelos seals his exit this summer
