Rangers target creative attacker as £4.5m Ridvan Yilmaz closes in on Ibrox

Rangers are in the market for further signings while sources have confirmed confidence in Ridvan Yilmaz’s arrival, according to The 4th Official.

The Gers look to have tied up a move for the young Turkish full-back to complete the job of replacing Calvin Bassey in quick time, following the arrival of centre-back Ben Davies from Liverpool.

Reliable Scottish football source T4O reported on Patreon on Friday afternoon (22 July) that the 21-year-old Besiktas man is in a good position to be the next Light Blues signing this summer, having confirmed with their Ibrox sources the information that has been coming out of Turkey.

Only “an absolute last minute hiccup” apparently has a chance of derailing this move now.

A fee in the region of £4.5million is expected which will put Yilmaz in a battle with Borna Barisic for the starting left-back role.

But the club are not stopping there as T4O also says they are in the market for further signings still and next in the queue to arrive in Glasgow could be a “creative attacking player”.

Revolving door

It was expected that the Bears had put themselves in a strong position to bring some useful additions to Ibrox this summer when they attracted a great deal of attention during the run to the Europa League final.

But the relentless pace of the deals must be beyond what plenty of fans had hoped for, despite the big-money exits of Nigerian international duo Joe Aribo and Bassey.

Ross Wilson has wasted no time in putting the cash received to good use in both cases, as Davies and now Yilmaz have been sourced to fill the new Ajax defender’s role.

Tom Lawrence also arrived with Aribo barely out of the door, and with Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak and Malik Tillman also brought in there looks like a wealth of attacking riches for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to utilise.

If yet another creative attacker is the next objective on the list it has to raise the question as to whether Rangers are expecting some imminent exits, with speculation around Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala.

But the Englishman has been tipped to sign a new deal and the Zambian is reportedly snubbing La Liga interest [Football Scotland] so the manager may be set to boast an abundance of options in the new season.

In other Rangers news, one man who has been mooted to leave is going nowhere.
