Rangers table £5.1m bid for Turkey left-back Ridvan Yilmaz

Rangers have reportedly submitted a £5.1million opening bid to sign Besiktas left-back Ridvan Yilmaz this summer.

According to beIN Sports journalist Gurler Akgun, the player has a desire to play in European competitions and he would be getting that should he move to Ibrox.

BBC journalist Fraser Fletcher has also claimed that the 21-year-old Turkey international is keen on joining Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

Via Twitter, Akgun wrote, “Official offer came for Rıdvan Yılmaz. Scotland’s Rangers team made an offer of 6 million EU to Beşiktaş with bonuses. Ridvan’s desire to play in Europe continues. Rıdvan Yılmaz wants to play in Europe by earning money for the club he was born in.”

Calvin Bassey’s potential exit to Ajax has made it imperative for Gers to sign a new left-back before the new season begins.

They appear to be right on course and for less than half of the sum they’re expecting for the Nigerian, they’re aiming to sign a 21-year-old left-back.

We do not know where Besiktas value the player so it remains to be seen as to what they have in mind for the Turkey international.

It’s clear that he fancies a move to Ibrox so that’s half the battle won and we do see him putting pressure on Borna Barisic for a regular starting berth.

Whether or not van Bronckhorst throws him straight into the eleven, remains to be seen, but either ways, there’s excitement building over another signing.

Hopefully, the club can sort out the minute details sooner rather than later and we could see Yilmaz in Glasgow in the not so distant future.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
