De Graafschap drop interest in Ross McCausland as Rangers make future decision

Dutch side De Graafschap have reportedly dropped their interest in Rangers midfielder Ross McCausland after giving him a trial at the club.

According to the Daily Record (July 20, 10:44am), he scored last week against Willem II and also played the first half against FC Emmen a few days ago in another friendly.

However, they were still unconvinced by the 19-year-old’s brief stint there and the Ibrox chiefs are now looking to loan him out for the rest of the 2022/23 season.

Makes sense

We’re surprised that the Dutch side did not want to take him on loan as he possibly did everything he could to impress the decision makers there.

However, that’s their loss and Gers will certainly find another club willing to take on his services for the course of the upcoming season.

The Northern Ireland Under 21s midfielder signed a new deal last season until 2024 so they do see him as someone with the potential of becoming a first-team player.

He even made his senior debut in the final game of last season so Giovanni van Bronckhorst has clearly seen first-hand what he can offer to his side.

Hopefully, he gets some much needed experience at the senior level next season and comes back a more polished player next summer.

The midfielder clearly has a bright future and we’re hoping he lives up to his potential at the club.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
