Rangers to finalise Ben Davies transfer with Liverpool before 10pm
Rangers are set to finalise the transfer of Liverpool defender Ben Davies before 10pm on Tuesday evening, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported on its website late on Monday evening [18 July] that the Bears will complete the deal in the next 24 hours to replace the outgoing Calvin Bassey.
Davies is then expected to link up with Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the squad in a matter of days as he looks to cement his spot in the side.
Rangers welcome West Ham United to Ibrox on Tuesday evening [19 July] and there now looks to be the possibility that Davies is unveiled at the game.
The defender must have completed his medical and sorted personal terms, with the deal now on the verge of being announced without much update on that front.
Ross Wilson has sealed the deal for a total of £4million, leaving a huge amount of profit from the £20m+ deal that has seen Bassey link up with Ajax ahead of the confirmation.
No Messing Around.
Wilson and Van Bronckhorst have put their foot down in recent weeks, and it appears as though there is no stopping them in the transfer market.
The deal for Davies has been all but completed already before Bassey’s move to Ajax has been announced and that piece of business simply has to be applauded.
Many clubs can leave themselves short when big money comes in, but Rangers have moved very quickly to make sure they win the race and get it done before weeks of talks.
Davies can play centrally as well as at left-back too so it will be a like-for-like switch with Bassey in terms of their capabilities, although the former Leicester man likely has more power and speed.
Experience is key though, and although he didn’t feature in a senior game for Liverpool, there was a reason they signed him over others and that chance to just chance with one of the best teams in the world will have done his ability loads.
This one is now on the verge of completion, let’s get it announced.
