Rangers deal to sign Ben Davies is 'done', announcement delayed out of respect to Andy Goram

Rangers have completed the signing of Ben Davies from Liverpool but are yet to announce the deal out of respect for Andy Goram, according to Four Lads Had A Dream.

Gorman sadly died earlier this month at the age of 58 due to oesophageal cancer and, as reported by Sky Sports, the former Rangers goalkeeper’s funeral was held on Monday (18 July) in Glasgow.

Four Lads, an official commercial partner of the Light Blues, have reported that the “deal is done” for centre-back Davies, 26, to make his way to Ibrox.

However, it is understood that it wasn’t announced on Monday due to “obvious reasons”.

Good decision

Monday was about saying goodbye to an Ibrox legend, Andy Goram.

It was a proper send-off for the Goalie, who played for Rangers between 1991 and 1998, winning five league titles.

It was the right call to avoid any distractions on a day that was designed to celebrate the life of Goram, who touched the lives of many in British football.

Davies’ signing from Liverpool seems imminent.

Everything seems to be in place for the signing to be completed, which should hopefully go a long way towards replacing Ajax-bound Calvin Bassey.

Bassey’s move to Amsterdam is yet to be announced too so we wouldn’t be shocked if the Dutch club have also delayed that announcement out of respect for the Goalie.

Ajax are a club with a lot of class so that wouldn’t be a surprise.

It’s been a good summer transfer window for Rangers so far but if Davies is seen as a direct replacement for Bassey, he has very big boots to fill.

In other Rangers news, an official partner of the Gers has dubbed their business “outrageous” with a £50million transfer verdict dropped.
