Rangers official partner shares if Fashion Sakala set for exit after missing pre-season game

Rangers attacker Fashion Sakala had a slight knock ahead of the game against Blackpool and was not risked for that one.

According to Heart and Hand, the club’s official media partner, Sakala was only left out as a precaution as Gers won 2-1 and is not leaving the club.

Calvin Bassey was also omitted from the squad as he’s set to join Ajax and that was not the reason why the 25-year-old was left out.

Via Twitter, Heart and Hand wrote, “Update on Fashion Sakala – has a very slight knock so wasn’t risked. He is not leaving.”

Defining season

Sakala arrived last summer with not too many expectations as he was a relative unknown to the average Gers supporter.

He showed sparks of brilliance in pre-season and also once the games began, but nothing was particularly noteworthy and he failed to nail down his place in the starting eleven as well.

However, his pace and ability to play either flank makes him a Swiss army knife for Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the coming season.

He’s worked with him for a few months and knows a few things about his strengths and weaknesses.

He will look to get the best out of him in pre-season and we will not be surprised if he starts in the first league game of the season.

Sakala has the ability to turn the game around in the favour of his side and we’re yet to see more of that on a regular basis.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
