Rangers include very attainable clauses in Bassey-Ajax deal, set for £4.2m windfall

Calvin Bassey is expected to secure his Rangers exit and join Ajax in the next few days and follow Joe Aribo out of the door at Ibrox, according to The Athletic.

The deal includes add-ons which could take the total transfer fee to around £25million and there is also a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

The 4th Official has reported that the £4.2million in add-ons is easily attainable and Gers are set to make it unless the 22-year-old suffers a significant injury.

Via Twitter, T4O wrote, “I am being told that the €5m add on is very achievable as long as Bassey plays a minimum number of games.

“Given the current scenario, unless Bassey suffers an injury, difficult to see how Rangers don’t get this additional €5m.”

Smart business

Sometimes, add-ons can be notorious and extremely hard to get but this is not the case with Bassey’s deal.

We expect it to be based on appearances and also if he does win the league title or some domestic competition which would benefit both Ajax as well as Rangers.

Ajax have fended off interest from numerous Premier League clubs to sign him which is surprising, given the sort of money teams south of the border have.

It seems like they are using the funds they’re expecting from Lisandro Martinez’s sale to Manchester United.

Bassey, is very similar to the Argentine, and has been targeted by the Dutch side as a like-for-like replacement.

We do expect the Nigerian to thrive there and who knows, he could move on to bigger things, ensuring that Rangers get their share on the way.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
