Rangers could get 'huge' fee for Calvin Bassey as Europe interest intensifies

Rangers are seeing interest in Calvin Bassey intensify in Europe over the past 24 hours, according to Jordan Campbell.

The Athletic journalist has shared that it would take a “huge fee” for the Bears to consider a sale, with Ajax and Brighton the two clubs mentioned most.

That would then free up even more funds on top of that brought in by selling Joe Aribo earlier in the window for Ross Wilson to spend on other areas of the squad.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Campbell shared the latest ongoing at Ibrox as the window has really started to gather some pace in recent weeks.

“Rangers’ transfer window gathering pace now,” he wrote.

“INS: Souttar, Lawrence, Tillman (TBC), Matondo, Colak.

“OUTS: Firth, Balogun, Aribo, Hastie, Itten.

“Interest in Bassey from around Europe is intensifying. Would need to be a huge fee but a sale would free up more funds.”

It is heavily reported now that we are demanding at least £25million for this to even be considered.

With interest intensifying around Europe and multiple clubs holding an interest, it would be no surprise if an auction could be started that could take it beyond that fee and closer to £30million.

That would smash the Scottish record for a sale, and produce a huge amount of profit for someone who arrived for as little as £300,000 only a couple of years back.

Bassey and his rise to the top has been phenomenal, and it hit an all-time high when he was superb in the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

That rise to the top on the biggest stage has brought along interested parties though, and it could be the thing that sees Rangers lose one of their best talents.

Of course, money talks, but we will have to wait and see if this one happens.
