Rangers could announce Rabbi Matondo transfer as early as Monday

Rangers could announce the new signing of Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo as early as today (Monday 11 July), according to BILD.

The German outlet has reported on their website that the Bundesliga side need to cut down their “XXL squad” ahead of the new campaign.

It is shared that Matondo is one of five players who could leave, with Schalke looking to get these exits sorted urgently, with this one potentially sealed in the next 11 hours.

Sharing the news in their live transfer blog (11 July, 12:34 pm), BILD shared the latest news regarding the potential transfer that is looking closer than ever.

“Schalke 04 urgently wants to reduce the XXL squad (34 players),” they wrote.

“Perhaps another departure will be reported as fixed later today: Rabbi Matondo (21/4 million euros) is moving to the island.”

This one looks to have progressed very quickly overnight.

Patrick Berger reported on Sunday evening (10 June), that further talks were scheduled for the start of this week with no personal terms agreed as of yet.

That may have changed very quickly with all parties seemingly set on this being finalised as soon as possible, which plays into our hands perfectly.

Ross Wilson can be magic in negotiating, but we didn’t know he could be this good.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be delighted to see his attacking options finally take shape after weeks of hassle regarding the deal for Antonio Colak.

With just an attacking midfielder left to target, it looks like we will be going all out for that one once Matondo is finalised and announced.

Looks like it could be sooner rather than later.
