Rangers hope to announce signing of striker Antonio Colak this week

Rangers are reportedly hoping to sign PAOK striker Antonio Colak in this week as they are yet to agree a fee for the 28-year-old.

According to the July 3 edition of the Sunday Post, the club expect to make an official announcement in the coming days as he looks set to become their first major signing of the summer.

The Greek side are holding out for £2.5million and talks are ongoing for his price with representatives expecting a comprise soon before the deal is finalised.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has greenlit the pursuit of the Croatian striker and he seems to be one of the keenest people at the club to sign Colak.

Despite his goal-scoring record being underwhelming, the Dutchman believes that he can bring the best out of him at Ibrox.

Given how he did last season, it does make sense to back the Rangers boss in the transfer market, especially given the current climate surrounding potential exits.

Alfredo Morelos appears no closer to have made up his mind over his Ibrox future and this is the last summer that the club can be left in a lurch.

If he conveys to them that he will not be signing a new deal, then they are very likely to send him packing in the coming weeks to the highest bidder.

The Colombian will leave big shoes to fill and we’re still sceptical as to whether Colak is the ideal man to take over the reins.

In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
