Joe Aribo could leave Rangers for Aston Villa later in the window
Premier League side Aston Villa could reportedly make a move later in the window for Rangers ace Joe Aribo.
According to journalist Dean Jones, the Nigerian’s idea of going to alternate clubs have fallen through and a move to Villa Park remains on the cards for him.
He does see Steven Gerrard’s side attempt to sign him in the coming weeks but right now they will explore some other options.
Jones told Give Me Sport, “I think Aribo will become an option a bit later in the window from what I’m told.
“I think he had ideas of going somewhere else that have fallen through, and now they’re going to look at further options, and I know that Villa is just one of those that need to be explored. So that might happen but further down the line.”
Set to stay?
It seemed like Aribo fancied a return to Londo because he’s from that City so the clubs in the capital may have appealed to him.
Villa are in Birmingham and it’s not one of the football hubs in England and it’s not even a team that regularly challenges for trophies.
The Gerrard factor could play a big part and also the fact that the Premier League side have got billionaire owners that could give him a good pay hike.
It remains to be seen if, like Gerrard, Aribo feels that his career will benefit from making a move to Villa Park.
The door appears to be open if he wants to leave and while the club would want him to stay, they know that everyone is for sale for the right price and a good offer could see them cashing in.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up, but the chances of him staying are now higher.
In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
