Rangers face battle for Antonio Colak with four other clubs chasing the Croatian striker

Rangers face a battle to land PAOK striker Antonio Colak with four European clubs chasing the Croatian striker according to The Scottish Sun.

Sky Sports reported on Wednesday 29 June that the Gers had agreed on a fee for the 28-year-old striker who spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Malmo where he scored 14 League goals for the Swedish side.

However, The Scottish Sun reported on Wednesday 29 June that the Gers now face competition from Copenhagen, Panathinaikos, Real Mallorca and his former club Malmo for the striker.

Although the newspaper did suggest that Rangers are still favourites to sign the Croatian international with Giovanni van Bronckhorst keen to get a deal tied up before next week’s training camp in the Algarve.

Should get done

Rangers should get a deal over the line for the striker with the Gers clearly the biggest and most successful club that is challenging for the 28-year-old.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst desperately needs to add some attacking depth to his squad with Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos’ futures all up in the air.

Colak will certainly add a clinical edge to the Gers after his goalscoring exploits in Sweden before the turn of the year, including two goals against Rangers in the Europa League.

There was certainly a shortage of strikers at Ibrox last season, with Kemar Roofe and Morelos both suffering injuries at crucial points in the campaign.

If the Gers had another adequate replacement to slot in up front then there could’ve been every chance of the Scottish giants adding the Europa League to their famous trophy cabinet.

Let’s hope the Rangers boss can get a deal over the line for the Croatian hot-shot and really start to ramp up his summer transfer business.

In other Rangers news, a young player has been spotted at hospital as he undergoes a medical to quit Ibrox for good.
