Rangers move for Antonio Colak edging closer as striker left out of PAOK pre-season fixture

Antonio Colak has been left out of the PAOK squad for their pre-season friendly against Go Ahead Eagles as his Rangers move edges closer.

The Daily Record reported on Wednesday 29 June that Ibrox chiefs are confident of securing a deal for the 28-year-old and highlighted his absence from the PAOK squad.

Sky Sports reported on 29 June that a fee has been agreed for the striker with the Greek side still unsure on whether to let the Croatian depart.

It’s been a long time coming but it finally looks as if Giovanni van Bronckhorst has added some much-needed attacking depth to his squad.

With Alfredo Morelos’ future very much in doubt, it is good to see the Gers adequately prepare for the Colombian leaving Ibrox this summer.

With Rangers’ transfer business certainly getting off to a slow start, hopefully, the Croatian’s imminent arrival will spark the Gers into life in the transfer market.

Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent and Morelos all face uncertain futures, so it’s important the Gers prepare for their departures.

The striker will add more physicality to Rangers frontline with the Gers perhaps missing a target man at times in the 2021/22 season.

It will be intriguing to see if the Croatian can adapt his game to the Scottish Premiership after enduring numerous loan spells in his career.

Let’s hope that Ibrox proves to be more of a permanent home for the 28-year-old striker.

In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
