Rangers agree deal for Partick Thistle starlet Cameron Cooper
Rangers have agreed a deal for Partick Thistle young talent Cameron Cooper.
The Maryhill club confirmed on 28 June via their official website that they have agreed an undisclosed fee with the Ibrox club for the transfer of the 16-year-old teenager.
According to Football Scotland (28 June), Cooper has attracted attention from Premier League clubs but the Bears have moved in quickly to secure his services.
The youngster is a versatile forward who first caught the attention when he scored on his debut in March earlier this year.
Cooper will join the Bears academy but there are high expectations that he can represent the senior team in the long run.
Therefore, he is viewed as some sort of coup for the club as they have won the race ahead of West Ham and Sheffield United.
He looks a promising young talent, and the Gers deserve praise for securing his signature.
Having said that, the club must show some urgency and do some serious business.
So far, it’s been a quiet summer for the Scottish giants. They did well to extend deals for some of the players but the futures of Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos is still hanging in balance.
The club have signed only John Souttar, but that transfer was sealed back in January.
While adding young talents to the academy is fantastic, the club must do some serious business in the coming weeks.
