Alex Crook: Rangers Joe Aribo ticks a lot of boxes for Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard
Rangers attacker Joe Aribo “ticks a lot of boxes” for Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.
The Scottish Sun reported on 24 June that Villa along with Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Crystal Palace are all chasing the 25-year-old.
However talkSPORT transfer expert Crook believes that the midfielder would be a good fit for Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa.
Talking to GIVEMESPORT on Wednesday 29 June, Crook said: “I don’t think they’re in any great rush to add more faces, but Joe Aribo, obviously, he’s got that connection with Steven Gerrard from Rangers as well, so that ticks a lot of boxes.”
Likely to depart
The 25-year-old is looking likely to depart the club this summer as his contract enters its final year.
The Gers simply cannot afford to lose the attacker on a free transfer at the end of his contract.
Sadly for the Gers, they cannot compete with even the lesser clubs in the Premier League when it comes to finances and wages.
Aribo certainly has the talent to play in England’s top flight and has certainly earnt the right to be given a Premier League chance.
It is clear that he is unlikely to renew his current deal and that should be a sign for Rangers to cash in now.
For the sake of one more season in Scotland, the Gers would be far better utilising any potential transfer fee and improving their overall squad.
Aribo is still likely to generate a large fee despite his contract entering its final year.
The Gers must ensure that they don’t find themselves in a similar position in regards to contracts in the future.
Aribo, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are all out of contract next summer and look set to provide Giovanni van Bronckhorst with a triple blow over the summer.
