Nottingham Forest lead Aston Villa in transfer race for Rangers ace Joe Aribo
Nottingham Forest are reportedly leading the race to sign Rangers attacker Joe Aribo this summer.
According to Give Me Sport reporter George Cannon, the newly-promoted Premier League side are leading Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa and many others for the Nigerian’s signature this summer.
Writing on The National website on 23 June, Chris Jack claimed that an exit is very much on the cards for the 23-year-old, given the growing Premier League interest in his services.
On his Twitter account, Cannon wrote, “Aston Villa are one of several Premier League clubs interested in Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo. Nottingham Forest are thought to be leading the race, though.”
Hike up his price
Aribo has been an exceptional player for Rangers and there will be no hard feelings when he decides to leave for the English top flight.
We understood Gerrard’s reasons for doing so and it’s a similar situation for the Nigerian looking to make that next step in his career.
While Forest only just got promoted, they’re prepared to throw around some money this window and Gers could look to demand as much as they can for him.
Villa’s interest in him is understandable as Gerrard shared an exceptional relationship with him at Ibrox.
Like Villa, even Forest have a billionaire owner in Evangelos Marinakis and they will not be put off by a high valuation.
If manager Steve Cooper desperately wants a certain player then it’s understood that the Forest hierarchy will look to back him.
In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
