Jake Hastie leaves Rangers to join Hartlepool United
Jake Hastie has left Rangers to join English side Hartlepool United on a permanent deal this summer.
Signed in 2019, Hastie failed to make a single appearance for the senior team despite a number of loan spells at clubs all over the United Kingdom.
The 23-year-old will now be looking to reignite his career in the fourth tier of English football.
Via their official Twitter handle, Gers announced, “RangersFC can today announce Jake Hastie has departed for @Official_HUFC, with the clubs having reached an agreement for his permanent transfer.
“He leaves Ibrox with the best wishes of everyone at the football club.”
Gers snapped up the 23-year-old’s services four years ago hoping that he will make it into their first team, but unfortunately that did not happen.
He was loaned out to English, Scottish and even Northern Irish clubs in order to gain first-team experience and come back a better player.
However, that did not materialise at all and it did make sense for the hierarchy to cash in on him sooner rather than later.
He’s no longer an under-21 player who can be given time with the youngsters to polish his skills.
If at 23, he’s not good enough then he needs to consider his options elsewhere and these kinds of decisions need to be taken by the club.
The winger will certainly get a good chance to prove his point in League Two and if he’s good enough we will soon hear more about him.
In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
