Greg Stewart drools over Rangers summer target Antonio Colak

Greg Stewart has showered heaps of praise on PAOK striker Antonio Colak who is being reportedly chased by Rangers this summer

Sport24 reported on 21 June that Rangers have submitted a bid for the 28-year-old striker, but the offer was turned down by the club immediately.

Although the Gers are not expected to make an imminent move to sign the striker, as per The Daily Record (22 June), the former Rangers striker seems to be impressed with the 28-year-old already.

“I remember Colak from the game at Ibrox. He got Malmo’s two goals and played really well on the night, especially when they went down to ten men,” said Stewart to The Scottish Sun (22 June).

“That’s never easy for a striker because you can become quite isolated, but his performance was really good and the two finishes were top class.

“For his first, he worked a nice one-two and then got himself some space in the box, and the finish across Allan McGregor into the bottom corner was superb.

“For the second one, he did a nice turn when he had two men on him and got his shot away. That showed the quality he has. Colak is a Croatia international as well, so he’s a good player.

“Things might not have worked out for him in Greece but he’s obviously got talent.”

Replacement for Morelos?

Colak may have struggled in Greece, but he is definitely a quality striker.

He netted 19 goals in 40 games while on loan with the Swedes and could be the perfect replacement for Alfredo Morelos this summer.

The Bears need to add a striker to their ranks irrespective of whether Morelos stays or goes.

The Daily Record reported on 22 June that he could be available for around £1.7m, and at that price, Rangers must move for him. He could prove to be a bargain signing for the club, if the move turns out to be a success.

Morelos has been an incredible player for the Gers. The Colombian has scored over 100 goals for the club in all competitions and has been the talisman figure at Ibrox.

Last season, Morelos scored 19 goals despite being a chunk of games towards the end after he picked up a thigh injury. He has a contract at the club until 2023, and it remains to be seen whether he pens a new deal at Ibrox in the coming days.

In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
