Rangers’ lack of signings is more concerning than it seems
Rangers had a fantastic 2021/22 season, even though they did not retain the Scottish Premiership title.
Despite losing manager Steven Gerrard to the Premier League and star striker Alfredo Morelos to injury, the club reached a remarkable Europa League final and won the Scottish Cup.
The Gers also made a string of big-name signings, most notably Aaron Ramsey from Juventus and Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo.

Rather than capitalising on that success, Rangers now seem content to sit back and wait on departures before signing anyone.
While last season they were bringing in the likes of Ramsey, now they will struggle to sign Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer, according to the Daily Record.
Ross Stewart is another name that has been linked, but The Scotsman reported on 13 June that they will only up their interest if Morelos leaves.

The lack of movement becomes even more concerning when you look at how Celtic responded to their strong season.
Ange Postecoglou moved quick to secure the permanent signing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and is working on bringing Jota to the club on a permanent basis.
Celtic are also working on signing goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist from Dundee United as well as midfielder Alfa Semedo from Vitoria Guimaraes according to The Scotsman.
Any talk of their stars leaving has been quashed after rumours linking Josip Juranovic with a move away were crushed by Croatian media and the Daily Record.
Meanwhile, Rangers have extended the contracts of Connor Goldson and Allan McGregor among others and that is about it.
Fans are sweating on the futures of Morelos and Calvin Bassey with few signs of anyone coming into the club.
The potential is there for Rangers to take their recruitment up another gear and retake their domestic crown, but so far the club seems content to sit on its hands.
Rangers showing so much complacency is giving their eternal rivals the advantage for next season and action needs to be taken quickly.
