Tyrhys Dolan will be perfect for Rangers counter-attacking style

Rangers interested in making a move for Blackburn Rovers’ attacker Tyrhys Dolan, according to TalkSport journalist Geoff Peters.

The Gers have been in the market to sign an attacking player ahead of the next campaign after having a successful 2021-22 season.

As per the report, Rangers are expected to face competition from Nottingham Forest and Celtic for the signature of the England U20 international.

The 20-year-old has two years left on his contract and may consider moving to a new club if not guaranteed first-team minutes under Tony Mowbray.

Brilliant Potential

In the recently concluded season with Blackburn, the 20-year-old made 34 appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists. However, most of his appearances came from the bench [Transfermarkt].

Even though he prefers playing on the right-wing, the youngster can occupy the other side of the wing as well and can also play as a false nine. He can occupy the byline and can come in from the wing to have a go.

His pace and explosiveness make him a tricky customer in a counter-attacking model. Therefore, Rangers will love to have someone like him in a contest where the opposition is keen on possession-based football, particularly in Europe.

Many believe that his pace is the reason why Mowbray brings him from the bench more often as he has to face the tired legs of the opposition in the half-hour of the second half.

At the age where Dolan finds himself, he is perfectly ready to hit the next gear and become an established first-teamer within any side and therefore, Rangers making a move makes total sense.

Of course, in the Scottish Premiership where we dominate every week, Dolan will need to adapt, but it is brilliant that he could fit both systems perfectly.

In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
