Rangers and Celtic in race to sign £3m-rated Blackburn striker Tyrhys Dolan

Rangers are reportedly looking to sign Blackburn striker Tyrhys Dolan this summer with Celtic also understood to be keen.

According to talkSPORT journalist Geoff Peters, newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest are also in the race to sign the 20-year-old.

It’s understood that the Lancashire-based club will be looking for a fee between £2million and £3million if they are to part ways with the Englishman this summer.

Peters wrote via Twitter, “Blackburn’s highly rated Tyrhys Dolan is attracting serious interest north and south of the border.

“Celtic and Rangers are both keen as are newly promoted Nottingham Forest.

“The England Under 20 striker has two years left on his #brfc contract. Fee could be around £2m-£3m.”

Sounds good

Dolan’s goal scoring numbers from last season may not make for great reading, but it’s worth noting that he started the campaign as a teenager.

Few expected him to become a regular in the first team, but he has excelled ahead of many players in his age group.

He made 20 starts and had another 14 league appearances from the bench as he registered seven goal involvements throughout the course of the campaign.

He also bagged a crucial goal for them in the league cup in what was his only appearance in that competition.

With Alfredo Morelos’ future up in the air, it makes sense for Rangers to keep backups in mind and Dolan is one they should look at even if the Colombian stays.

A year as backup to Morelos would do him a world of good and eventually, when he leaves, he could take over the mantle and spearhead Gers to victory by leading from the front.

In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
