Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor not considering move to Middle East

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor is not considering a move to the Middle East, according to journalist Josua Barrie.

The Sun reported on 16 June that the veteran goalkeeper has been offered to spend the rest of his career in the desert, where a two-year deal is on the table from the UAE.

Barrie, who works for Rangers review and Sky Sports, has suggested that the goalkeeper has held talks with the Gers over his future.

New contract?

The 40-year-old goalkeeper is out of contract and it remains to be seen if the Gers offer him a new deal.

The Bears have already secured contract extensions for Connor Goldson and Steven Davis, and McGregor could also be in the line for a reward.

The veteran keeper was outstanding last season and helped the club win the Scottish League Cup. He also played a big role as the club reach the finals of the Europa League.

The Sun reported that Giovanni van Bronkhorst sees Jon McLaughlin as his first-choice keeper, whereas McGregor doesn’t want to be a back-up option for the club.

McGregor has earned huge success at Rangers and he is not motivated by money. There are even suggestions that he could hang up his boots having reached the fag end of his career.

Goalkeepers usually enjoy a long career and it looks like McGregor feels he still has a lot to offer.

It looks like he wants to stay at Ibrox, but whether the club will offer him a new deal is a big question.

In other Rangers news, a Champions League club is closing in on a deal for this Ibrox star.
