Rangers could suffer biggest blow of summer as Alfredo Morelos report emerges

Rangers have suffered a huge blow in their pursuit to keep star forward Alfredo Morelos at the club as major reports emerge.

The most important thing for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and co this summer will be keeping hold of the Columbia international.

It will be very tough because the 25-year-old’s immense quality means he is always linked with a move away from Glasgow with there typically being several options for him to choose from.

According to a report by The Chronicle [14 June], the Light Blues may be forced into selling the dynamo ahead of the 2022/23 season with him in the final year of his deal from July.

The player and club were undergoing transfer talks but they are said to have hit a brick wall with Morelos’ Ibrox exit potentially now looking likely.

Huge blow.

It has been a long time coming but if the Columbian actually leaves the club this time around it will be devastating for Rangers.

He has been the Gers’ star man ever since joining in 2017 and they simply don’t look like the same team without him.

Make no mistake, the Bears are still more than capable as they proved in the latter stages of last season by defying all odds and reaching the Europa League final without him and soon after lifting the Scottish Cup.

However, you can’t ignore his impact on the team – he is an animal up top and scores goals for fun.

If he does go, it will open the door for the Ibrox outfit to bring in a fresh face-up top. Hopefully, Sunderland striker Ross Stewart will replace him if needed because he looks to be a real player.

The high fee they will likely get for him will hopefully be used to strengthen the squad too which will somewhat soften the blow of potentially losing him.
