Kenny Miller ‘almost choked’ after reading Rangers goalkeeper news
BBC pundit Kenny Miller has admitted that he “almost choked” on his breakfast after reading the latest Rangers goalkeeper news.
Gers veteran Allan McGregor faces an uncertain future at Ibrox with his contract expiring this summer.
According to a report by Sky Sports on 8 June, Jon McLaughlin is expected to be the Light Blues’ number one next season and Miller has urged the 40-year-old to leave now, with his head held high.

He wrote in his Daily Record column: “When I read that Allan McGregor could stay at Rangers for another year as a backup keeper, I almost choked on my breakfast.
“Not because I thought he might be retiring. He could well sign a deal at Ibrox if that’s what he and the club agree on.
“I haven’t spoken to him about it so I don’t know.
“But Allan McGregor as a No.2? Maybe only playing in 20 or 30 per cent of the games next season?
“No, I just don’t see that happening.
“I know him well enough to know that it wouldn’t suit him.”
He added: “He might as well just go now because Greegsy would not want to be that guy.”

Spot on.
It is hard to imagine a world where McGregor would want to stay at Rangers knowing he wouldn’t be the number one.
He has been a stalwart in the side for years and it would be a shame to see him waste away on the bench during his last year or so as a player.
Considering his long and illustrious career with the Bears it will be sad to see him go but now seems like the right time.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst and co are seemingly looking to the future with McLaughlin and the 40-year-old would much rather leave coming off the back of a brilliant European run as well as lifting the Scottish Cup.
At times last season, his form did waver with several uncharacteristically big mistakes creeping into his game.
It will be very different for both the fans and the players not having him in the squad but all good things must come to an end and this seems to be the right time for McGregor.
