Nathan Patterson reacts as James Maxwell confirms Rangers exit

James Maxwell has confirmed on Instagram that he has left Rangers.

The young left-back spent the last season (2021/22) on loan in the Championship with Ayr United.

He’s excited to see what the future holds for him. Everton right-back, Nathan Patterson, has sent him a brilliant message on Instagram.

Maxwell wrote on Instagram: “Thank you Rangers FC for everything, met friends for life and had many great experiences, excited to see what’s up next.”

Patterson responded: “What a guy.”

Summer clear-out

Maxwell now leaves the club after three years at Ibrox.

The 20-year-old was an important part of the club’s second string and previously spent time on loan at Queen of the South for development.

Last season, he managed 37 appearances in all competitions where he notched up six goals.

He also provided four assists for his boyhood club last season to round off a memorable campaign.

Rangers

However, his contract at Rangers has now expired, and the club have not offered him a new deal.

He has joined the likes of Leon Balogun and Andy Firth in leaving the club.

Maxwell is more likely to attract suitors after his impressive form and it seems he is excited about it.

Rangers, meanwhile, could be looking to add a new left-back in the summer, with Stoke City’s Josh Tymon being linked with a move [The Sun].
