Rangers must move for Gareth Bale now as wage development emerges

It’s already been a busy summer for Rangers as they look to build their squad to wrestle the Scottish Premiership back from Celtic’s grasp next season.

There are expected to be big changes over the course of the summer, with big decisions needing to be made on several key players in key positions who are entering the final 12 months of their deal.

But after making a loan deal for Aaron Ramsey work in January for a short period of time, the club must find a way to get Gareth Bale to wear the famous blue shirt for at least six months.

The five-time Champions League winner will leave Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month, but after Wales confirmed their World Cup place with a win over Ukraine he is expected to look for a new club rather than retire.

According to a report from 90min [June 6] his hometown club Cardiff have made an approach to bring him home in the hope that playing in Wales will convince him with the World Cup coming up in November.

But while Bale was reportedly earning £600,000 per week at the Bernabeu, more than Cardiff’s entire wage bill, he is open to taking a significant pay cut to join his next club.

That should open the door to Rangers to make a huge move and look to convince him to be part of the side that will be playing in the Champions League next season and trying to become champions for a 56th time.

Bale would add that superstar quality that Ramsey brought, but a far higher level of performance on a more consistent basis and the type of x-factor that wins games and trophies on it’s own.

It would only need to be a short-term deal so doesn’t need to financially ruin the club even if it does break the club’s wage structure, but it’s a deal that makes them a real force on the continent for a second season running too.

But if they’re serious about it, then they must move now. Leaving it too long will give rivals too long to get their own offers in and turn his head. This is an opportunity that can’t be ignored.
