Nottingham Forest step up interest in Rangers defender Connor Goldson
Nottingham Forest are prepared to step up their efforts to sign Rangers defender Connor Goldson, according to reports by the Scottish Sun.
Steve Cooper’s side booked their place in the Premier League on Sunday [May 29] by beating Huddersfield – controversially – in the Championship playoff final at Wembley
The Reds boss is said to be a big fan of the Gers centre-back as he looks to add him to his English topflight squad for next season.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is still trying to convince the 29-year-old to stay despite admitting there is a “small chance” previously.
With Goldson’s contract expiring on May 31 – the Light Blues defender will be able to join Forest for free.
Inevitable.
The likelihood of Goldson leaving at the end of the season has only increased as the campaign went on.
With the Europa League a strong possibility as well as the Scottish Cup, a perfect goodbye was in store for the player but the fairytale just wasn’t meant to be.

The Englishman still left with a bang though by lifting his second piece of silverware with the Gers after winning the league a couple of seasons ago.
It is a real shame to see him go but you can hardly blame him. At 29, the former Brighton defender hasn’t got too many years left in his legs and if he wants to have another crack at the Premier League, you would imagine it is now or never.
For that reason, you can hardly blame Goldson. He has been an excellent player – helping bring the glory days back to Ibrox again.
One thing is for sure, the man-mountain will need defending because he is such a key part of van Bronckhorst’s defence.
