Connor Goldson leaving Rangers is ‘hugely disappointing’ – Barry Ferguson
Barry Ferguson has branded Connor Goldson potentially leaving Rangers “hugely disappointing” with the “incredible servant” seemingly set to leave Ibrox for free in the summer.
The 29-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and there has been no news of an extension.
With the Light Blues missing out on what could have been a sizeable transfer fee for the centre-back, Ferguson has urged the club to learn from their mistakes.

He told Daily Record: “It’s all gone a bit quiet on the Connor Goldson front so we have to assume his time is up at Ibrox.
“That’s hugely disappointing because the big man has been an incredible servant over his four years at the club.
“He’s an asset who would still be worth a lot of money on the open market that is now heading out the door for nothing.
“But I don’t think the club execs can be blamed for keeping hold of him this season. He’s been so important to everything they’ve achieved and I’m not sure the team would have made it as far as Seville without him.”
Crucial.
It is a huge shame that Goldson isn’t staying at Rangers, he holds so much quality and will be sorely missed at the heart of the defence.

The former Brighton man is the type of player that often gets overlooked when he is playing.
He goes about his business quietly at the back, consistently putting in solid performances which have built the foundations for the Bears’ success this season.
Without him, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side certainly wouldn’t be where they are today which makes the harsh criticism of him at times bizarre, to say the least.
All players make mistakes and admittedly, Goldson has made a few during his time in Glasgow but the 29-year-old always receives heavy backlash for them.
It is imperative that he is replaced in the summer because his role in the team is so important.
Unfortunately, he is leaving when he is seemingly at the peak of his powers but the good news is – he is far from irreplaceable.
