Rangers 3-1 victory v RB Leipzig sends Kris Boyd wild on Sky Sports

Rangers enjoyed one of their most memorable nights on Thursday (5 May) as they turned around a 1-0 deficit to reach to Europa League final.

RB Leipzig held the advantage after the first leg but an emotionally-charged Ibrox helped to roar the Light Blues to victory thanks to goals from James Tavernier, Glen Kamara and John Lundstram.

It was absolute pandemonium in Glasgow when Lundstram struck the decisive goal nine minutes from time as Rangers got one step closer to emulating the Barca Bears of 1972, 50 years after their amazing achievements.

Former Gers striker Kris Boyd joined in the celebrations whole-heartedly despite being live on Sky Sports as he celebrated Kamara’s goal to make it 2-0 as if he was at Ibrox himself.

Never forget

That was as good a night as we will ever experience at Ibrox and it will live very long in the memory as a result.

Victory in Seville in the final is still the ultimate goal and would be a huge achievement for the entire football club but that night will have to go a long way to matching what happened in Glasgow.

The big difference of course is the incredible home crowd that is practically unrivalled anywhere in Europe and that just won’t be the same in Spain.

There will still be a huge Scottish contingence on Spanish shores later in May but the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan just won’t recreate that same roar that Ibrox has in its locker.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have been beaming from ear to ear at that epic display by each and every one of his players but we have to remember that the job is not done and a third German side stands in our way, let’s do the same again.

In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist worshipped this Gers star who turned up when it mattered on the big stage.
