Keith Jackson predicts unexpected Rangers v RB Leipzig scoreline

Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson is backing Rangers to win their Europa League semi-final against RB Leipzig.

On Thursday night, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his men will be aiming to overturn a one-goal deficit after they lost in Leipzig in the first leg last week.

And with the backing of the Ibrox crowd in the second leg, Jackson predicts the Light Blues to win 2-0 and book their spot in the final against either West Ham or Frankfurt.

Writing for the Daily Record [print edition, 5 May, page 58], Jackson said: “Rangers have been riding a tidal wave of emotion to make it this deep into the competition.

“But the atmosphere inside Ibrox tonight will be one for the ages and this raw energy alone might be enough to drag them over the line.

“These players have plugged into the home crowd.

“Together they have enough to scramble the senses of Leipzig’s players, regardless of the personnel available to the manager.”

Against all odds

Leipzig are the heavy favourites to book their spot in the final.

And that’s completely understandable given their form in the Bundesliga and the fact their squad is decked with very talented and very expensive players.

However, this is football and in football, nothing is certain.

It will definitely be an unexpected result for Rangers to win – but we’re backing the Gers to do the unexpected too.

With the fans roaring them on and with the players busting a gut as they have been all season in Europe, nothing is impossible.

Van Bronckhorst has been superb in European football this season and his players have always been able to dig out that extra 10 per cent they’ve lacked in most league games in 2022.

Reaching the semi-finals has been a massive achievement in itself but going that one step further and making the final would be incredible.

Come on you Gers.

In other Rangers news, this Ibrox employee is being lined up for a manager’s job at a Scottish club.
