Van Bronckhorst must drop Fashion Sakala, Kemar Roofe to start in Rangers v RB Leipzig

Rangers produced a gritty performance in Germany as they lost 1-0 against RB Leipzig in the first leg semi-final of the Europa League.

The second leg is at Ibrox, and the Gers are confident they can turn it around. They have done it in the previous round against Braga and are more than capable of producing another heroic performance.

Ahead of the match, they may have got a timely boost, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Kemar Roofe could be fit to start.

Rangers lacked a focal point against Leipzig in the first game, and surely the return of Roofe would solve that problem.

Roofe is a class striker who has been in very good form. With him on the side, the Gers will feel more optimistic about scoring, and getting the result they crave for.

The question is – how Van Bronckhorst will shape his attacking formation?

Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent are certain to start which means Van Bronckhorst will have to drop Fashion Sakala for this big game.

Sakala didn’t start in the first leg against Leipzig but he produced a strong performance against Celtic where he looked menacing upfront.

He scored the equaliser and hit the post as well as the Gers managed a 1-1 draw last Sunday.

It will be really harsh to drop him after such a strong performance, but Van Bronckhorst will have to make the ruthless call.

Sakala should be used from the bench. In a high voltage game like this, Roofe, a player with more experience and quality, is likely to cause damage upfront.
