Rangers could sign Jeroen Zoet to replace Allan McGregor

Rangers could sign Dutch international Jeroen Zoet to replace Allan McGregor, according to the Daily Record.

The 31-year-old’s contract at relegation-threatened Spezia expires at the end of the season.

Should he not pen a new deal, Gers will have a glorious opportunity of landing their new number one on a free transfer.

Worth keeping an eye on

The evergreen McGregor finally appears to be getting old and has now reached a stage where he’s costing the club crucial points.

While nothing can be done from now until the end of the season, he clearly has got to be replaced sooner rather than later.

Zoet isn’t a player that’s linked with an Ibrox switch in the recent past, but is someone who could do a great job at the club.

Not only is he vastly experienced domestically, he’s also got 11 caps for the Netherlands under his belt.

While that may not be a remarkable number, having caps in double figures for one of the biggest teams historically, is no mean achievement.

He’s currently in talks over a new deal, but Gers could put the hammer in the works if they really want him in the summer.

Despite wearing the number one at the Serie A club, he’s been playing second fiddle to Ivan Provedel.

At Ibrox, if he’s guaranteed playing time, then there’s no reason why he would not fancy a move in the summer.

In other Rangers news, the Gers beat a big European club to seal a major signing recently.
