Rangers beat Sassuolo to sign Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo

Rangers reportedly beat Serie A outfit Sassuolo to secure the loan signing of Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo in January.

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, they made an attempt to sign him on a permanent basis but the Premier League giants were only open to a loan move.

As the SPFL is similar to the English top flight in terms of style of play, they decided that Ibrox was the ideal destination for him.

Good choice

United put some serious money to secure the signing of Diallo – who still is a relative unknown.

It seems that their scouts have worked hard to track a player from Atalanta’s youth sides to bring him to Old Trafford.

He made just four senior appearances for the Serie A side before he completed a colossal £33million move.

Even if Gers want to sign him permanently once his loan spell is done, there’s no chance they can pay that kind of money.

If United were looking to sell him, they would at least want to recoup the principal amount and possibly sell him for a slight profit as well.

Gers and their fans will look to enjoy the Ivorian for the next few months as he’s set to return south of the border once the season is over.

Hopefully, United can agree to re-send him on loan for the 2022/23 campaign as well as he would add something different to this Gers side.

In other Rangers news, the club could have signed a ‘Combative’ centre mid whose father was an Ibrox icon.
