Michael Stewart reacts instantly as Rangers drop to second with loss v Celtic

Celtic have the momentum in the race for the Scottish Premiership title after they beat Rangers on Wednesday night, according to Michael Stewart.

Ange Postecoglou’s men won 3-0 in the latest Old Firm meeting at Parkhead with all three goals coming in a disastrous first half for the Gers.

It saw Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side slip down to second in the Premiership standings and ex-Hearts man Stewart feels that the Hoops now firmly have the upper hand.

“Ange Postecoglou the most important acquisition for Celtic, real leader with great ideas and clearly an eye for a player,” said Stewart on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night in an instant reaction to the result.

“Hatate and O’Riley were outstanding in the middle of [the] park. Juranovic had Kent in his pocket too.

“Momentum now truly with Celtic, cup winners and top of the table.”

Woeful

There are a lot of questions that need answering after that abysmal capitulation at the hands of Celtic.

Rangers fans made their anger known on social media after the game with some supporters calling for van Bronckhorst to be sacked in the wake of the gutless Old Firm display.

Since the winter break ended, Rangers have just one win in four, dropping points to Aberdeen and Ross County before losing at Celtic Park this week in an embarrassing mannger.

It seems as though the new manager bounce has well and truly worn out while questions will surely be raised once more about why this game was postponed by a month when Rangers were in better form.

It simply isn’t good enough and a lot of players have tainted their reputation forever among Gers fans for their performances at Celtic.

Borna Barisic and Ryan Kent are two who particularly stood out as being woeful and many would not lose sleep over losing either of them in the next transfer window now.

In other Rangers news, Tom English slammed this “punch-drunk” Gers player in the loss to Celtic.
