Rangers set to make final bid for John Souttar on deadline day – report

Rangers are set to make a bid of around £500,000 to sign John Souttar from Hearts on deadline day, according to Daily Record.

Rangers have already completed the signing of Souttar on a pre-contract agreement, meaning he will join in the summer.

Both the club and player want to see him move to Ibrox this month instead [Daily Record, 31 Jan, 12:16 pm], although Hearts are adamant they want a big fee to allow him to leave immediately.

Rangers

After rejecting a bid worth around £300K earlier in the window, Record Sport are now reporting that it’s expected that Rangers will return with a bid much closer to Hearts’ £500K value.

Whether Hearts will accept the bid at this late stage of the window is unclear, but Rangers are going back in for their man.

Game changer

Rangers defended well in the first half of the season but since returning they have been poor.

The 3-3 draw with Ross County means that they have already conceded more goals this season than they did in the entirety of their title winning campaign last year.

Souttar will bring experience and hunger to the team, while also adding fresh blood to a squad that is in need of a kickstart to ensure they don’t throw the title away.

They have seen their lead at the top of the table cut to just two points, and with a huge Old Firm derby against Celtic coming up on Wednesday Souttar’s arrival could be exactly what they need.

Souttar wants the move, Rangers want the move and Hearts will be getting the amount of money they wanted from the deal. It’s all about the clock now.
