Rangers defender Jack Simpson not heading to QPR, enquiries made but only permanent sale wanted – report

Rangers defender Jack Simpson is not heading to London to sign for Queens Park Rangers, according to Jordan Campbell.

The Athletic journalist has shared that despite rumours going into overdrive, that move won’t be happening before tomorrow’s deadline.

Swansea and Middlesbrough are said to have enquired about loan moves, but Rangers will only entertain offers for a permanent transfer.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Campbell shared the latest on the future of the defender ahead of the deadline.

“Understand that reports Jack Simpson is heading to QPR are untrue,” he wrote.

“Swansea and Middlesbrough among the teams to have enquired about a loan deal but it’s believed Rangers will only consider a permanent transfer.”

Goodbye?

Well, for all the transfers that have worked, this is certainly one of those that hasn’t given his year at Ibrox.

Simpson has been a failure, unfortunately, and simply can’t get any playing time, even with our defensive injury crisis over the past few months.

The fact that Giovanni van Bronckhorst favoured Calvin Bassey played out of position, says all you need to know about his rank in the side.

Simpson leaving would free up wages and bring in money to use on bringing John Souttar to Ibrox early, so this would be a masterclass.

There is going to be a lot of action in Glasgow between now and tomorrow evening, with ingoings as well outgoings.

It looks as though Simpson is one of the favourites to leave, and we don’t think there will be one Rangers fan who would be disappointed with that news.
