Rangers forward Ianis Hagi to miss rest of the season

Rangers attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi will miss the rest of the season, as confirmed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Tuesday (25 January).

The Gers will face Livingston in their next Scottish Premiership clash on Wednesday at Ibrox, and the news has come as a big blow.

Meanwhile, Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield are available for selection while Joe Aribo is expected to join the squad shortly.

Hagi had undergone an operation on his knee yesterday (24 January). The Dutchman confirmed:

Other issues

Hagi has been playing really well for the Gers and losing him for the rest of the season is a massive blow.

Young talent Alex Lowry replaced him and made a dazzling debut against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup and it remains to be seen if he features regularly and cements his spot in the side.

Van Bronckhorst has also confirmed that Filip Helander is back in training but he will require more time to regain full sharpness.

Steven Davis is also close to returning to full fitness. So, apart from the sad injury news, there are some positive updates as well.

Rangers

The return of Aribo and Jack could be pivotal for Rangers. Aribo has been outstanding this season and getting him back ahead of the Old Firm derby is a massive boost.

Likewise, Jack can still make a big impact, given his quality, if he remains injury-free.

Rangers managed a 1-1 draw against Aberdeen in their last Premiership game, and they will be looking to return to winning ways.
