Premier League clubs circle as Rangers open contract talks with Alex Lowry – report

Rangers have been stuck in talks with Alex Lowry over a potential new contract at Ibrox, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reported on their website that English Premier League clubs are starting to circle around the midfield sensation.

The Bears are said to be aware of that interest and are looking to avoid a scenario where he runs down his current deal.

That would allow those English clubs to come in and secure Lowry for a deal worth little to nothing.

After losing the likes of Billy Gilmour to Chelsea early in their careers in Glasgow, the Bears will be desperate to avoid that again.

Lowry made his senior debut in the 4-0 win over Stirling Albion last week, scoring and winning the Man of the Match award.

Penning a new contract at Ibrox would make it the perfect end of the month and start to a year where he could really break through.

With Rangers now said to be upping the ante with talks, they look desperate to tie Lowry down to a new long-term deal.

Get it done.

This simply has to be one of the priorities at Ibrox at this moment in time.

We cannot afford to lose yet another one of our brightest talents for scraps, especially now that he has stepped into the senior spotlight at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst managed Lowry perfectly, introducing him to consistent first-team training, and then handing him a spot on the bench.

The feeling the young sensation must have had when he was called to go on in the first half must have been amazing, and it gave him the chance to be applauded by almost everyone inside Ibrox.

That is a feeling he will want more of, and the only way to secure that is by putting pen-to-paper on that new contract.
