Ally McCoist: John Lundstram could leave Rangers in January after big struggle

Ally McCoist has insisted that John Lundstram could leave Rangers before the January transfer window slams shut.

The former Sheffield United man only arrived at Ibrox in the summer but has struggled to adjust to life in Glasgow.

McCoist admitted that the change in style with the Bears dominating almost every game won’t have helped Lundstram, and that could lead to his exit.

Speaking on Premier Sports’ live coverage of the game, McCoist singled out the midfielder as one who could leave in the next 10 days.

“I think it might happen, he makes absolute valid points there,” he said.

“He’s come from a team that is under pressure, don’t get a lot of the ball, they’re up against it, to a club, a complete flip, a club that has the ball the majority of the time.

“He certainly hasn’t got going, could he leave in the window? Absolutely.”

Struggle.

It hasn’t been easy for Lundstram, and there haven’t really been many signs of a clear improvement as things stand.

Even against Stirling Albion last night, the former Sheffield United man really didn’t stand out and just sat in the middle of the park in his comfort zone.

We need those bursting runs into the final third that he so often did with Sheffield United, but instead, it is all too straightforward and easy.

McCoist is right, it would be easy to see the midfielder leave in the next 10 days, with interest said to be rife in the English Championship.

It would take a good offer for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to consider, but this one certainly isn’t out of the realms of possibilty.
