Ally McCoist: It's now or never for Brandon Barker at Rangers after start v Stirling Albion

Ally McCoist has insisted that it is “now or never” for Brandon Barker as he looks to salvage his Rangers career.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst handed the winger a rare start against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup last night at Ibrox.

When quizzed on if Barker could leave the club this month, McCoist agreed, admitting that there is no point in waiting for one start every few months.

Speaking on Premier Sports’ live coverage of the game, McCoist insisted there was no point in Barker sticking around.

“There’s no getting away from that, Brandon is another who hasn’t consistently impressed.

“He’s another one, it’s now or never for these guys, they have to start doing it. There’s no point coming in and playing one game in four.”

No point.

This was a really strange decision by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Barker hasn’t played in months at Ibrox and this performance came out of nowhere, as he hasn’t even been coming from the bench in games.

The winger wouldn’t be missed or even remember, which appears harsh to say, but that is the truth given his loan exits in the past.

It appeared to be a final chance against Stirling Albion, and he certainly didn’t take it and that must be the final nail in the coffin of his Ibrox career.

Ross Wilson will need to move players on in each window to keep the business model ticking at Ibrox, and Barker surely has to be one of the next names on the list.
