Rangers in strong position to sign Danilho Doekhi after confirming John Souttar deal - John Souttar
Rangers are already in a strong position to seal another major transfer after announcing the deal to sign John Souttar.
That’s according to Jordan Campbell, who has reported that the Bears are closing on Vitesse skipper Danilho Doekhi.
The Athletic journalist has reported that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is keen to bolster his defence with more numbers as soon as possible.
Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Campbell shared the latest transfer news at Ibrox after this deal was done.
“Rangers are thought to be keen on exploring the option of bringing Souttar in before the January window shuts but it is understood that Hearts will only entertain a deal if it is a significant sum they can’t turn down as he is worth more helping them finish third than selling at a cut-price fee,” he wrote.
“Rangers are also keen on Vitesse captain Danilho Doekhi and, as The Athletic reported last week, are in a strong position to land the Dutch defender.”
With Souttar putting pen-to-paper on his pre-contract for the summer, all attention is now moving elsewhere.
There are a number of players who could leave Ibrox at the end of this season, with Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun coming to the end of their deals.
On top of that, Nikola Katic and Jack Simpson could be sold on after being pushed to the bottom of the pile at Ibrox.
That would leave Souttar and Filip Helander, with Calvin Bassey also potentially filling that gap if needed again.
Adding Doekhi this month on another pre-contract deal would be sensational business, with Ross Wilson once again working his magic.
Get it done.
