Aston Villa unlikely to be deterred by £10m Rangers valuation of Glen Kamara

Rangers are likely to demand an excess of £10million for Glen Kamara, but that will not deter Aston Villa, according to Birmingham Live.

The report claims that a number of clubs could register an interest to sign the midfielder in January.

It’s understood that Arsenal are also keen on securing his services, while the Steven Gerrard factor at Villa could sway the 25-year-old towards Birmingham.

Must stay

Gerrard played such a major role in ensuring Kamara signed a new deal and now seems to be keen on wanting him to leave.

The fact that he signed a new deal recently means that Gers have the leverage to drive up his price.

Given the number of clubs keen on his services, it makes sense for them to do exactly that.

Aston Villa have proven this window that they can compete in terms of spending with the Premier League big boys.

Arsenal, who were one of Europe’s biggest spenders last summer, also have the financial muscle to pay over the top for a player of Kamara’s calibre.

While Rangers or Giovanni van Bronckhorst don’t seem inclined to cash in on the Finland international, it could come down to the player’s personal choice.

Should he want to leave then the club will have to comply and that’s the only way he leaves this month.

He is a fan favourite at Ibrox and the faithful would hope that this is not his last season at the club.
