Alan Nixon unsure about Middlesbrough interest in Rangers midfielder John Lundstram

Alan Nixon claims he’s heard nothing about Middlesbrough’s reported interest to sign Rangers midfielder John Lundstram in January.

The Sun journalist responded to a question that was posed to him on Twitter after the Daily Record article which said that Boros boss Chris Wilder wanted him this month.

However, he believes that they’re interested in Riley McGree and not the Gers summer signing.

Nixon wrote, “Heard McGree. Not heard Lundstram.”

Good news

Lundstram may not have hit the ground running in Scotland, but it’s too early to judge him.

There clearly was a plan when the club first thought of buying him so to write him off after six months makes very little sense.

Since his arrival, there’s also been a change in manager and an overhaul of the backroom staff.

These things can affect players, especially if they’re new to a club as they’re still learning the ropes there.

If by the summer there are no signs of improvement then Rangers surely must look to ship him off at the earliest.

However, until then, it makes sense to give him so more time to adapt and see how things pan out in the coming weeks.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is understood to be keen on retaining his services beyond this month and he could turn a new leaf once the league resumes after the winter break.

In other Rangers news, the club have been handed a transfer boost as an English club have dropped out of the race to sign an ‘Incredible’ defender
