Dunfermline table offer to sign Rangers defender James Maxwell
Scottish Championship club Dunfermline have tabled an offer to sign Rangers left-back James Maxwell, according to the Daily Record.
The 20-year-old who is on loan at Ayr United has admitted recently to the Record that needs to leave Gers permanently.
Dunfermline were among the suitors, but they have now taken a step further and have submitted an official offer to sign the youngster.

Let him go
Maxwell clearly does not envisage himself having a future at Ibrox, given the nature of his previous interview.
Even though he’s a promising sensation and has been labelled “energetic” by the club website, he’s probably burned all bridges at Ibrox.
Had he been keen on staying, he would’ve said that he’s willing to fight for a spot in the first team.
If that meant spending another season or two on loan, then so be it, but he does not feel that way so the club must cash in on his services.
Given how good Borna Barisic and Calvin Bassey are, the 20-year-old would need to do a lot to get himself ready to even challenge them for a first-team berth.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst certainly picks players on merit but Maxwell will surely not have put himself in his good books with that interview.
Gers are unlikely to get a heavy transfer fee from a Championship club, but something is better than nothing and cashing in on him makes sense at the moment.
Hopefully, they sort out his exit as soon as possible instead of letting this draw on into a saga and waste everyone’s time.
