Newcastle make contact to sign Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos in January – report

Newcastle United have made contact over the signing of Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos in January, according to 90min.

The online outlet have reported on their website that Eddie Howe is looking to potentially bring two new forward to the club this month.

Injuries to Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson have been said to speed up that process, with the Bears contacted this week.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will simply have laughed this one away.

Morelos has been re-born since the arrival of the Dutchman, who has demanded the Bufalo play higher up the pitch in the box.

That had unsurprisingly led to him finding his poaching streak yet again and scoring nearly every single week in all competitions.

Money.

Newcastle are backed by the richest owners in football, and that could have a big say on any potential move they make in the next three weeks.

Rangers don’t need to sell any of their players after shipping Nathan Patterson off to Everton for £16million in the past week.

But, if Newcastle came in with even more than that on the table, and threw upwards of £25million at a deal, surely it would be too good to turn down.

It would need to happen quick though in order for Ross Wilson and his team to get into the market and bring in a replacement in the next three weeks.

That is speculation, though, and we would all be more than happy to have Morelos at Ibrox past January, another window that we have fought off interest.
